Principal Investigator: Catherine Price, Ph.D., ABPP-CN

Catherine PriceI am the primary investigator of this laboratory.  My doctoral degree is in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Clinical Neuropsychology. As an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, I am fortunate to work with and mentor talented graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida.

Together, we are a very collaborative group of individuals who work to understand the roles of gray and white matter on cognitive changes and susceptibility to decline for adults with Parkinson’s disease and other forms of neurodegenerative disorders, and how these changes may place individuals at risk for events such as major surgeries.  This research provides the foundation for pharmaceutical and cognitive interventions.

I encourage you to visit our laboratory page on a monthly basis to see what new papers and projects have been published or presented by our group and close collaborators (e.g., Michael Okun, M.D., UF Movement Disorder Center; Dawn Bowers, Ph.D., Clinical and Health Psychology Department, McKnight Brain Institute, and many others). We have a number of papers in process that discuss the impact of white matter abnormalities on cognition in dementia, white matter integrity in Parkinson’s disease, as well as neuroanatomical relationships to post-operative cognitive dysfunction after orthopedic surgery.  We have been funded by the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the National Parkinson Foundation, the National Institute for Nursing Research, and most recently the National Science Foundation.  Consequently, we will continue to update our site regularly so that our latest work, funded by the NINDS, NPF, NINR, NSF, (and you), can be reviewed and commented upon. Please feel free to download papers already published.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have questions.  My email is cep23@phhp.ufl.edu.  Our laboratory phone number is 352-273-5929.

Many thanks for checking out our website and our work,

Catherine Price
